What gives?! We got RickRoll'd via parade.

This long weekend Arthur was a super happy baby. Lots of smiles, not so serious. It made me wish ***even more*** that I was a work at home mom.

Thanksgiving at our house was lovely. Arthur and I got up early and watched the Macy's parade tog. Or I did, and Arthur hung out in his "Office" or exersaucer.

Friday we dropped Arthur off at the Batica's and went to Uncle Hugo's and the Midtown Global Market and then Target and then home to clean clean clean. Normally we don't shop on Black Friday so it felt weird. But maybe that was just because I was away from Arthur for so long.

Saturday was Batica Family Picture day. ProEx is a frickin' zoo!
Then we got to relax at Jesse and Emily's. 4 rootbeers is perhaps too many.

Sunday we baby-sat for baby-Teddie. Jaffer was so adorable with her, but I can see how if we ever have a girl she will be spoiled beyond belief. :p

his business is the business with his pretty secretaryyyyyy!

I was scrolling down through an email trying to find the relevant bits and when i got to the bottom (relevent bits missing, of course) I saw this at the top of the screen:
"the official business of my business shall be understood as neither given nor endorsed by it."

About which i have been guffawing.

I have been spending more time with facebook because it requires less of me. I'm not proud of this.

Good thing tonight is Kale and Lauren night because I crave socialness.

The line practicly started at our front door.  Arthur was very well behaved but refused to smile at the nice lady who kept talking to him in line.
I was able to nurse him while queueing.

I have totally lost my cell phone.  Craps.

You know what I would like to get for my Mother's -  She is turning 60 -  b-day ?  A personal assistant.  Or a buyer on her condo.  Or a kick ass new job.
Sigh.

Please Please Please let there be no voter fraudy shennanigans today.

Mommy Gushing

Last night, Arthur - as if he had always been doing it - Flipped from his back to his tummy. And thereafter, every time we put him on his back - Flip! onto tummy. And it is elegantly done - where most of his movements are a little wobbly.

And he always looks surprised - like "I didn't want to be on my tum - why am I on my tum?"

Lip-synch-ventriloquistic-Baby-karaoke?

What it is called when you manually make a baby's lips move and then sing for them with accompaniment.

Jaffer does it a lot with songs from Sweeney Todd, and with "Bless your Beautifull Hide" from 7 Brides for 7 brothers.

Kale performed "Cat's in the Cradle" with Arthur. It was meant as a loving dig at Jaffer's continued lateness back from work - but - Jaffer just ended up singing along.

Arthur's nails grow so fast - I just can't keep up the maintenance on them. I can only cut them while he is napping, which is time I usually have to use for something else - more urgent.

Oh the Cleverness of Me.

Thank you Wikidary for giving me a good laugh while learning about poetry.

You can sing part of Dr. Seuss' "If I ran the circus" to the tune of Leonard Cohen's "Famous Blue Raincoat" because they are both written in amphibrachs. (a metrical foot used in Limericks. It consists of a long syllable between two short syllables - like  "Amanda")

All ready | to put up | the tents for | my circus.

I think I | will call it | the Circus | McGurkus.

And NOW comes | an act of | Enormous | Enormance!

         No former | performer's | performed this | performance!"

If I was a musician I would do a cover of "Famous..." so that I could throw in this extra verse and sing it all mopey like Cohen.
Bwahahahaha!!

Hooray! Tomorrow - no work!
I plan to devote myself to getting Arthur to giggle. Which aparently he has done at Grandma B's but not at home. :(

He is taking a nuk bottle from Grandma - good news.

Also - he is teething. Lots of drooling and he will bite if you put something in his mouth. He's been good about not biting me, though.

I bought the next up size diaper and I read to him "the Very Hungry Catepiller" before bed last night.

"Nothing for me Thanks - I'll just wait till Momma shows up with the real deal."

Now that we have the daycare situation taken care of, Arthur is resisting bottle feeding. And a google search will show that this is a common issue, that everyones advice is the same (try every nipple, try every position, and we've tried everything except using formula or scalding the milk before storing which isn't possible here at work). The "don't worry the baby will eat when they are hungry enough" is crap - because when they get really hungry they get really freaked out and then even breastfeeding is a struggle. And more crying doesn't make babies stronger or better able to deal with stress.

MADDENINGLY many of the people complaining about this are saying they just want a night off of breastfeeding. Like they are tired of the process - Not that they HAVE to go to work. And there are lots of people who say - "oh yeah my baby never did drink from a bottle"

I don't want Arthur to spend 9 hours a day hungry while I work this crappy job that has admittedly great benefits. It would take me an hour and half to get to Grandma's and back to feed him, and I'd still have to take pumping breaks to keep my milk supply up and my boss wouldn't kinder to that.

Grandma has resorted to dropper feeding but Himaya and Lynne (the back up daycare) don't know how to do this.

Jaffer and I traded in the 2dr Focus for a Taurus SE. Friends can now sit in the back without losing feeling in their limbs - bonus!
There is a wierd front middle seat just like in those older bench seat cars. Only anorexic imaginary friends could fit there though.

Fun things to send to your right wing Uncle....along with pictures of your son.

Once a day I get visited by a lone fruit fly. I bet that someone in this area has food out on their desk breeding the little bastids. yuck.

Brrrr....Cold Brain, Warm Heart

Entering course and transcript information - while numbing to the brain - is simultaniously making me want to go back to school. Some of the classes sound fascinating. "Finite Mathematics" sounds cool - and like there is an end to the math. "Intro to Anthropology II: Morocco" sounds positivly sinfull.

My engagement ring recently caught on our screen door and was pulled into a weird shape. I guess I should be happy my finger didn't come off.

The chill in the air reminds me that I want to make some pants to wear over my work clothes while waiting in the cold for the bus. Maybe out of fleece and rip stop nylon or quilted flannel or something. With pockets. Snap tape or zippered sides…hmm….

Arthur laughed in his sleep yesterday. It was the most beautifull sound ever. Dr. Kari said to listen for sleep laughs because they come before awake laughs. I can't wait!
